Notice Regarding Temporary Shutdown of Visa Services &
Exemption of Visa Fee

Considering the spread of global pandemic of COVID-I9, Government of Nepal (GoN) has decided on 6th April 2020 to extend the lockdown period and suspension of all the front door services till 15th April 2020. All International Flights are also suspended till 30th April 2020. Mulling over the request of GoN for avoiding public gatherings, maintaining social distance and strictly following suggested health measures to cope with the possible transmission of the pandemic, the Department of
Immigration also suspends all its visa services till 15th of April 2020, and requests all the service recipients to remain patient regardless of their visa term. As per the decision of the Ministry of Home Affairs dated 7th April 2020, visas will be regulated amicably as follows after the regular services are resumed.
i. Foreigners possessing a valid visa till 21st March 2020 and willing to return back to their country within the lockdown period or within 7 days after the regular service resumes are exempted of visa fee, late fee or penalties. Such visas can be regulated from the Immigration Office, Tribhuvan International Airport at the time of departure.
ii. Foreigners willing to extend their stay in Nepal are subjected to pay the regular visa fees only, without any additional penalties. Such visas should be valid till 21st March 2020 and can be regulated from the Department of Immigration, within 7 days after the regular service resumes.
iii. Visa expired prior to 21 March 2020 is subjected to usual late fees and penalties as per the existing immigration laws.
