Press release Issued by Embassy of Nepal, Israel on Presentation of Credential in Jerusalem, Israel

Her Excellency Dr. Anjan Shakya, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Nepal to the state of Israel, presented her credential to His Excellency Reuven Rivlin, President of the State of Israel on 14th February, 2019 amidst a special ceremony in President’s Residence,
Jerusalem.

Ambassador Dr. Shakya was received in audience by President Rivlin following the presentation of credentials. President Rivlin expressed his delight at welcoming Ambassador Shakya to Jerusalem, city of god and peace. He expressed his gratitude towards Nepali soldiers who are rendering exemplary works in many UN missions stationed in and around Israel and are working tirelessly towards regional stability by transcending the regional boundary. He reiterated that Israel values the friendship between Nepal and Israel that dates back to decades. H.E. Dr. Shakya conveyed message of friendship and cordiality from Rt. Hon’ble President Mrs. Bidhya Devi Bhandari and Rt. Hon’ble Prime Minister K.P Sharma Oli to H.E. Rivlin.

Ambassador Shakya who addressed Rivlin in Hebrew during her opening remarks while presenting credential and during audience with the President, expressed her gratitude towards hospitality and warmth Israel has extended to her. She also extended invitation from Rt. Honorable President Mrs. Bidhya Devi Bhandari and Rt. Honorable Prime Minister K.P Sharma Oli to H.E. Rivlin to visit Nepal, in response to which he quipped that he knows everything about Nepal and wants to visit the country at earliest. Ambassador Shakya updated President Rivlin on the current stable political situation of Nepal and new system of Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal introduced, guided and upheld by the Constitution of Nepal.

Ambassador Shakya invoking motto of Government of Nepal “Prosperous Nepal Happy Nepali” exhorted for Israeli support in the forms of transfer of technology in diverse Nepali sectors like Agriculture and Irrigation, Education, Health, Information and Technology as well as in establishing
Centers of Excellence in all provinces of Nepal especially at the juncture when Nepal has charted its economic development path to achieve the status of developing country after graduating from the least developed status by 2022 and status of a middle income country by 2030.

H.E. Dr. Shakya also informed that the foreign policy of Nepal is truly inspired and guided by Rt. Hon’ble Prime Minister K. P. Sharma Oli’s slogan of “Amity with All, Enmity with None.” She said that Nepal understands that Israel is one of the oldest diplomatic and political friends of Nepal and the excellent relations between Nepal and Israel has been existent since the bilateral ties were established in 1960. She expressed her commitment to make tangible contribution to further expand and deepen bilateral relations and to bring the two governments and two people together for the larger benefit of all.

Ambassador Shakya vowed to build good relations between the private sectors of two countries and stressed the importance of frequent B2B meetings. Following this she invited all the private sectors of Israel to participate in the upcoming Investment Summit that is scheduled to be held in March 29-30, 2019 in Kathmandu. She highlighted the importance of people-to-people relations, exchanges of visits of scholars, professionals, skilled man powers etc and expressed her commitment to promote and uphold tourism and trade relations.

President Rivlin expressed his commitment to meet all initiatives taken by Government of Nepal. Ambassador Shakya extended her sincere gratitude to Government of Israel and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The ceremony was attended by high ranking government officials from State of Israel and diplomatic members from the Embassy of Nepal and Israeli Media.

The ceremony concluded with H.E. Dr. Shakya signing the Guest Book at the President’s Residence.
